GenderReach Information Research, Dissemination, Promotional and Outreach Services: Final Report of the GenderReach Project

摘要

To be effective, development assistance strategies to stimulate economic growth, alleviate poverty, improve health and quality of life, and support human rights must take account of the situation of women in developing countries worldwide both because of the important contribution that women make to their societies and their national economies and because of womens relatively poor social and economic status. Recognizing the critical nature of womens economic contributions, USAID is committed to addressing the serious problems and needs of women in developing countries based on the conviction that a proper focus on the role of women in development is the key to progress in all societies. The women in development research base must be deepened to address more specifically issues that arise within the context of work on the economic status of women, girls and womens education, legal rights and political participation, violence against women, women as peace makers, and trafficking in women.
