This report describes the results of a field demonstration conducted at211u001econtaminated sites near Butte, Montana, in which developers of soil 211u001echaracterization technologies were invited to participate. The report presents 211u001esoil sample analysis results from a mobile atomic absorption spectroscopy system 211u001eoperated by Pace Environmental Laboratories. This spectroscopic technique was one 211u001eof four technologies that were used to analyze soil samples for a number of 211u001etarget elements. Other technologies that were tested include a laser-induced 211u001ebreakdown spectrometer operated by Mel(at)ok, Inc.; a second laser-induced 211u001ebreakdown spectrometer from Los Alamos National Laboratory; and anodic stripping 211u001evoltammetry systems fielded by Battelle Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. 211u001eThe results from these technology demonstrations are published as separate 211u001ereports.
