Comparison of Nordic Classification System for Surface Linings and Floor211 Coverings with the EU Euroclasses for Surface Linings and Floor Coverings. 211 Nordtest Project No. 1349-97

The proposed classification according to the new EU Euroclasses has been211u001einvestigated for a series of surface linings and floor coverings used on the 211u001eNordic market. Test series according to NT FIRE 004 (1), NT FIRE 007 (2) and ISO 211u001e5657 (3) have been performed. A comparison has been done with the present Nordic 211u001eclassification system for surface linings and floor coverings. At the time of 211u001eprinting this report the class limits dividing the Euroclasses A2, B, C, D and E 211u001efor surface linings were not 100% defined. Therefore the comparison is based on 211u001ethe present proposal for class limits given in the Document CONSTRUCT 98/310 of 211u001eDG III of the European Commission. Update No. 10 on progress regarding fire 211u001erelated issues. Test results according to the so called 'kleinbrenner' test which 211u001ealso is a part of the Euroclasses, were also taken into account in the comparison 211u001e(4). The tests carried out on surface linings indicate that the SBI test method 211u001ecan be used to classify products in a similar way as done in the present Nordic 211u001ecountries classification system.
