Fatality Assessment and Control Evaluation (FACE) Report: Fire Fighter Dies of a211 Heart Attack While Responding to a Residential Oil Heater Fire, Delaware

A three-pronged stategy for reducing the risk of heart attacks among fire211u001efighters has been proposed by other agencies. This strategy consists of (1) 211u001eminimizing physical stress on fire fighters; (2) screening to identify and 211u001esubsequently rehabilitate high-risk individuals; and (3) encouraging increased 211u001eindividual physical capacity. The recommendations address potential health and 211u001esafety problems uncovered during the NIOSH investigation.
