Investigation of Sources of Freeway Speed Data in the Dallas Area and211 Presentation to Traveling Public by Electronics Means

This report documents the analysis of existing sources of freeway operations data211u001ein the Dallas Urban Area. Recommendations are made for sampling vehicle detectors 211u001eto be strategically placed to provide operational data prior to full 211u001eimplementation of a freeway management system. In addition, a procedure for 211u001einterfacing to 911 emergency services to provide notification and location of 211u001efreeway incidents not otherwise detected is proposed. A graphical Internet 211u001edisplay format is described for presentation of these data to the traveling 211u001epublic.
