This issue of Alcohol Research & Health reviews the various treatment options211u001eavailable today to patients seeking help with alcohol problems. A number of these 211u001etreatment components can be used in combination or as stand-alone therapy, 211u001eincluding cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational enhancement therapy, 12-step 211u001efacilitation, coping-skills training and cue-exposure therapy, the community-211u001ereinforcement approach, contingency management, and pharmacotherapy. Articles in 211u001ethis issue also review the importance of brief interventions in diagnosing 211u001epatients with alcohol problems and the management of drinking 'lapses' to prevent 211u001ea full-fledged relapse to drinking once sobriety is achieved.
