Presents production and cost of data for a mechanized cut-to-length harvester211u001eused in a single-tree and group-section cut on the Groton State Forest in central 211u001eVermont. Tree volume or size is an important factor in machine productivity and, 211u001etherefore, cost of production. For trees whose average volume (size) was 7 to 18 211u001ecu ft, production ranged from 464 to 734 cu ft per productive machine hour. The 211u001ecycle time for processing trees into bunches to forward to a landing ranged from 211u001eabout 1 minute to 1.72 minutes per tree (average: 1.29 minutes). There was little 211u001eabove-ground residual stand damage. The results should assist forest planners, 211u001eloggers, and land managers in their decisionmaking.
