摘要

An analytical penetration model has been used to calculate the ballistic limit for small calibre APHC (Armor Piercing Hard Core) ammunition against target materials of either RHA (Rolled Homogeneous Armor) or HNS (High Nitrogen Steel). The model predicts the ballistic limit well when the target material is RHA but the deviation between experimental results and model calculations are considerably higher for HNS. The Deviation is due to the different constitutive behavior of HNS compared to the more conventional armor, RHA. In order to describe the behavior of HNS a material model suggested by Johnson and Cook is used. The results are summarized in this progress report.
