The Upper Mississippi River-Illinois Waterway System (UMR-IWWS) Navigation211u001e(Feasibility) Study will evaluate the justification of providing additional 211u001elockage capacity at sites on the UMR-IWWS while maintaining the social and 211u001eenvironmental qualities of the river system. The navigation system feasibility 211u001estudy will be accomplished by executing the Initial Project Management Plan 211u001e(IPMP) outlined in USACE (1994). The IPMP outlines Engineering, Economic, 211u001eEnvironmental, and Public Involvement Plans. The purpose of this study is to 211u001edetermine if the UNET model (Barkau, 1992) can be used to determine the variation 211u001eof water level drawdown along the length of a backwater channel as a result of 211u001epassage of commercial tows in the main channel.
