Effects of Withhold Payments from Managed Care Plans on the Costs of Care inMedical Group Practices

The purpose of this research was to assess the effects that withholding a portionof a clinics payment by a managed health care plan has on the subsequent use of resource care for patients in that clinic. The influence of clinic organizational and cultural factors on costs and on the effects of withholds was also included in this analysis. Two associated studies related to clinic payment method were conducted; the effects of clinic structure and payment on prescription drug use and disease prevention practices.
