Third-Party Involvement in Violent Crime, 1993-99.

The National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) is the Nations's primary source of information on the frequency, characteristics, and consequences of criminal victimization. The survey provides a national forum for victims to describe the impact of crime and the characteristics of violent offenders. This report uses data from the NCVS to describe how often and under what circumstances other people, in addition to the victim interviewed and the offender(s), are present during violent crime and their impact on the outcomes of these events. A third party is an individual(s) other than the victim interviewed and the offender(s) who is present during a violent crime.
