摘要

In 1992, the National Institute of Justice established the John B. Pickett Fellowship in Criminal Justice Policy and Management at the Kennedy School of Government. The Fellowship was created in memory of John Pickett, NIJs first Director of Planning and Management, shortly after his untimely death in 1990. Like all outstanding career public servants, he was committed to enhancing the public value of his work. From 1992 to 2003, the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), in cooperation with the Program in Criminal Justice Policy and Management awarded 73 John B. Pickett Fellowships in order to provide criminal justice professionals with the opportunity to study policy and management at Harvard Universitys John F. Kennedy School of Government. This report, based in part on interviews with more than 20 former Pickett Fellows, discusses the pivotal role that the NIJ Pickett Fellowshp has played in furthering innovative leadership within criminal justice.
