Determinants of Length of Stay at Woodside Juvenile Detention Center

This study used both quantitative and qualitative data to examine determinants of length of stay at Woodside Juvenile Detention Center, Vermont's only locked juvenile detention facility. We analyzed Woodside data for the 358 admissions that occurred between April 1, 2002 and March 31, 2003, and conducted a survey of family court judges, Social and Rehabilitation (SRS) caseworkers and Emergency Services Program (ESP) personnel to identify and better understand determinants of length of stay.
