Workshop on Advancing Electronic Tag Technology and Their Use in Stock Assessments

The intent of the workshop was to advance the use of electronic tagging technologies and the scientific data gathered through these technologies, and to improve fisheries stock assessments and the implementation of ecosystem-based management strategies. The overall goal was to develop a list of recommendations for improving tagging technologies that would be submitted to the ASTWG for future funding. The specific goals were to (1) identify present and future research needed to improve electronic tagging technologies, (2) discuss specific data management requirements for each technology, and (3) develop ways to improve how tagging and environmental data are incorporated into stock assessments.
