At the DLGP Best Practices Conference, the U.S. Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic recognized winners of DLGPs two competitions on Best Practices and Participatory Budgeting. The conference was attended by DLGPs local government partners, the US Ambassador, Members of the Kyrgyz Parliament, representatives from Presidential Administration, national Government and hosted representatives from Serbia and Bulgaria. Over 80 people attended the conference, which was widely covered by print and broadcast mass media at both the local and national levels. DLGP, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, and Union of Entrepreneurs jointly organized the countrys first Fair of Local Economic Development Initiatives. During the fair, pairs of local government and local businesses leaders presented their experience in increasing private sector investment in their cities and rural munici-palities. Fifty participants included representatives from national institutions, local governments, businesses and other organizations that deal with local economic development. Also, expert guests from Bulgaria and Serbia presented their own experiences in local economic development. Karabalta City launched the countrys first Land One-Stop Shop. The Land One Stop Shop streamlines purchase or lease of municipal land, making it easier to open or expand businesses.
