This report describes the sample design of the 2006-2010 National Survey of Family Growth (NSFG), which uses a new continuous design, and its implications for statistical research. Subsequent reports in Series 2 will present detailed results on final response rates, final weights, results of imputation, and further guidance for researchers intending to use the NSFG. The survey was designed and conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) and its survey contractor, the Institute for Social Research (ISR), University of Michigan, of Ann Arbor, Michigan.
