INVESTIGATION INTO MANUFACTURE AND USE OF CARBON BLACKS AND LAMP BLACKS IN GERMANY

The purpose of the visit was to investigate the manufacture of German Blacks and, in particular, of the types essential for the production of types and other rubber products of high quality. There was some evidence in the years before the war that attempts were being made to produce on the Continent from indigenous materials reinforcing, types of Black similar to American Carbon Black. The interest was obviously great in Germany from the point of view of saving foreign currency and in connection with preparation for war.
