The Pathogenesis of Allergic Disorders and the Principles of Their Management

This technical bulletin defines allergy as an altered response by the tissues of man and animals which occurs as the result of contact, under suitable conditions, with certain substances foreign to the body. A history of knowledge of allergy from 1890 to 1915 is given. Clinical allergy disorders are discussed, including: atopy, atopic-like (intrinsic disorders), serum sickness, bacterial allergy, drug allergy, contact dermatitis, vascular allergy. Each disorder is separately, with principal clinical symptoms and principles of management considered. A bibliography of 21 articles is included.
