摘要

Radio propagation measurements at 8.6 millimeter wavelength between Pikes Peak and Mount Evans over- a path length of 60.9 miles are reported.nIn the absence of precipitation or fog, the attenuation of these signals was less than five decibels below the free space values. An estimate of the water vapor absorption from these measurements indicates that at this elevation the absorption is somewhat less that, predicted by measurements of other groups and very much legs than indicated by lower altitude measurements of this laboratory. The sensitivity of 8.6 millimeter signals to precipitation was reconfirmed. By comparison with 3.2 centimeter wavelength signals, it was seen that when the 3.2 cm signals were 3 or more db below the free space value, the millimeter signals were below the noise level which was 22 db below free space.
