An Investigation of Reactions in Ferrospinels by Differential Thermal Analysis

Differential thermal analysis has been used to follow the oxidation of magnetite in solid solution with a nickel-zinc ferrospinel, and the solid-state reaction leading to the formation of the ferrospinel from the oxides. Differential thermal curves for the series Ni.474Zn.526 Fe2O4- Fe3O4 are shown and explained. An attempt was made to follow the solid-state reaction which occurs during the formation of the ferro¬spinel from the oxides.
