Flocculation at Sedimentation Part Ⅰ. A study of two-particle interaction

Attractive forces between suspended particles are generally not sufficient to cause aggregation. Relative motion of the particles is required to make distances small enough to allow at­tractive forces to enter into action. Such relative displacements occur with panicles sedimenting at different ve­locities. Between sedimenting particles there is a hydrodynamic interaction which is mainly repulsive.
