A METHOD FOR SOLVING THE MODIFIED PRIMITIVE EQUATIONS

A method is proposed for solving the modified primitive equations of motion, continuity, and thermodynamics. New potentials are defined in order to simplify the introduction of boundary conditions. The second order derivatives of these potentials are the components of velocity. A convenient technique for obtaining the solutions is used in order to minimize errors, and to avoid certain computational in- stability. The latter arises from the advection terms, and when the oscillation is faster than the internal gravity wave.
