摘要

The Industrial designer designs for human use. His success is based upon public acceptance and satisfaction. His product must integrate. and blend with the needs of his market, and, as a result, he must know something of what his design means to its users. He must find out If his own personal judgments, as they are invested in the design, are also the judgments of its users. In military operations user accept¬ance is no less important than in the public markets. Many functional items fail to achieve their purposes because the rank and file of the military organization is resistant to using the new item. Consequently an otherwise useful item is rejected and gathers dust in supply rooms. With this in mind, the present report outlines one of the newer psycho¬physical methods, the polydiagnostic method of multiple forced-choice rankings, and its applications to the area of design analysis and pre¬diction of product acceptability.
