摘要

Hot hardness and tensile tests were conducted on SAE 4140 steel, a Ti-150itanium alloy, and a Type 304 stainless steel at room temperature, 300°, and 600°F. Hardness tests were made in modified Rockwell and Brinell machines equipped with a resistance-heated furnace. Tensile tests were conducted at strain rates of 0.1 and 0.5 inch per second. Tensile specimens were rapidly heated by an induction coil and held at temperature for one minute prior to application of load;metallographic studies were also made. Data is presented in tabular and graphical forms. Factors such as strain rate sensitivity and microstructure, which affect the results, are discussed.
