摘要

Studies are reported on the biological effects and hygienic significance of injurious materials entering bodies of water along with waste water, primarily from the organic-chemistry industry (production and applications of synthetics, solvents, and various -cides employed in agriculture). The nature and degree of the harmfulness of these materials is clarified and their maximum permissible concentrations are established. The latter are used to indicate the measures necessary to decontaminate waste waters before they reach water bodies. (Author)
