摘要

Porous calcium aluminate ceramics have been considered for applications as structural materials in orthopedic and dental prostheses. Calcium aluminate specimens varying in chemical composition from 23to 34weight percent CaO and varying in amount of porosity from 44to 55percent were tested to determine the relationship(s) between strength and porosity. The pore structure was analyzed by density determinations,optical microscopy,and scanning electron microscopy. The strength characteristics were determined from load versus deformation curves of crushing strength specimens,modulus of rupture in bending,and modified indentation hardness. (NIDR-NIH)
