摘要

The purpose of this investigation is to develop a mathematical model for the study of pneumatic tire deformation behavior. The tire is approximated by considering the cord system in the carcass to be the major load carrying mechanism with the effect of tread stock ignored. The tire carcass is treated as a thin shell of revolution with membrane and bending stiffness. Material properties of the carcass are assumed to be linearly orthotropic in nature. The large deflection problem for the shell model due to time invariant loading conditions is solved through use of the direct stiffness finite element technique. To validate the model comparisons are made between results obtained by experiment and results generated by the mathematical model for several loading conditions. (Author)
