摘要

The use of power-plant heat in a physical-chemical domestic wastewater renovation system has been investigated in order to explore the feasibility of the concept. In this work conceptual process engineering designs are evaluated and further laboratory experiments are reported. Laboratory tests and preliminary engineering examinations reveal that the commercial exploitation of the concept of combining a wastewater treatment facility to a power plant,using the waste heat to enhance physical-chemical treatment and generating renovated water for condenser cooling,is a viable concept. Pilot plant studies are considered necessary for further engineering evaluations,and a pilot plant design is proposed. The proposed power plant-waste treatment concept involves passing raw sewage through a primary settling facility and then to a special condenser,where it is heated to approximately 110F,using the reject heat from the steam plant. Metal-coagulant and powdered activated carbon is then added to the heated wastewater,where adsorption,coagulation,flocculation,and settling occur.
