摘要

The trend towards improved steels by controlled processing has resulted in stringent and frequently prohibitive demands on plant and production schedules. The paper briefly considers the underlying metallurgy and examines the process routes in terms of operational procedures and plant requirements. In the light of current developments it is concluded that,while the optimization of process routes will inevitably lead to the uprating of future plant installations,scope exists for improving the operational efficiency of present controlled processing plant with simultaneous metallurgical and economic benefits.
