Cotton Gin Operating Costs in West Texas, the Lower Rio Grande Valley, and the Blacklands of Texas, 1971 and 1972 Seasons

Capacity utilization and operating costs were analyzed for a sample of 90 gins representing about 19 percent of both total ginning capacity and total volume ginned in West Texas, the Lower Rio Grande Valley, and the Blacklands of Texas. A stepwise multiple liner regression analysis reveals that volume ginned and investment in buildings and equipment are the most influential factors in determing annual gin operating costs.
