The Job Orientation and Motivation Program. A Retrospective Analysis of a Survey Based Action Program to Help the Jobless.

A demonstration project in Roanoke,Virginia found a group therapy approach effective in promoting job seeking and motivation to work among 185women receiving welfare payments. The program included group discussion on problems,counseling,and a solve it yourself approach in which the client,supported by the rest of the group,devised and carried out her own rehabilitation program using caseworkers as resource persons. The program also trained caseworkers statewide and conducted workshops urging overall coordination of approach.
