The report contains 60 papers from a symposium on the dynamics of fire-type ecosystems of Mediterranean regions and the development and assessement of management policies. The papers cover the following topics: the nature of the world's Mediterranean ecosystems, including climatic, vegatative, and soil features; an assessment of man's interaction with those systems; regional problems and approaches in Africa, Australia, California, Mediterranean Sea-bordered countries; contributions to the study of Mediterranean ecosystems; and identifying research problems.
