Weather elements as they relate to agriculture and domestic animal management are examined in considerable detail in this collection of papers that constitute the proceedings of the symposium. In spite of significant advances in technology over the past several years,weather remains a decisive factor in short-term planning in addition to long term planning. Increasing energy costs and mounting restriction on agricultural activities,such as spray applications,indicate a growing need for a better utilization of the short period weather forecast in agricultural planning. Significant services to agriculture are also possible through agrometeorological events,crop yields,and crop disease. These models,based on established relationships between weather effects at early stages of development and the final event at some future time,play an important role in agricultural management.
