摘要

This manual is the sixth volume of the International Health Planning Methods Series. The series provides national health officials in developing countries with critically needed guidelines for incorporating health planning into national plans for economic development. The manual helps health planners assess the importance, extent, and impact of non-public health care in developing countries. This includes individual and familial health care, indigenous practitioners, and private practitioners trained in the Western medical tradition. Guidelines are provided for assessing the indigenous medical systems and private sector health care in: Assessment of use patterns by characteristics of users, circumstances and frequency of use, and types of services used; the meaning and importance of various available health services to users; assessment of ways of integrating or developing complimentarity between indigenous medicine, the private sector, and public health services.
