Queueing Systems: Networks of Queues and Queues with Periodic Poisson Input

Research efforts undertaken between June 1979 and August 1980 are summarized. Reports issued under the grants are discussed: two deal with equilibrium total sojourn time in Jackson networks; two contribute to the heavy traffic theory for networks of queues; one helps to clarify the role of boundary conditions in forming diffusion approximations for storage and related queueing processes; and another is concerned with the structure of asymptotic distributions for queues with periodic Poisson input.
