The Solar Assisted Air-Source Heat Pump System (Part 1): Preliminary Analysis and Experiments

A new heat pump heating and air-conditioning system was proposed and tested. It features the effective utilization of climatic conditions as its heat sources and sinks to improve the thermodynamic efficiencies. The outdoor unit of this heat pump is composed of aluminum panels that are painted black to enhance the radiative heat exchange and fixed almost perpendicularly to improve the natural convective heat transfer with air. The working fluid is halocarbon and commonly used in the heat transfer circuits and the refrigeration cycle.
