Discussion on Development of Integrated Ducumentation Languages for International SPC Systems

It is a well known fact that the share of software of the total cost of manufacture and maintenance of SPC systems has continuously increased. Moreover, software maintenance has proved to be the most expensive part of system life costs. The burden of developing and maintaining software can to a large degree be attributed to the poor documentation facilities and self-descriptiveness of conventional programs written either in low-level or high-level languages. It has therefore been believed that the introduction of international and national standards is going to ease this burden to a large extent.
