Stress Corrosion Behaviour of Prestressing Steel in a Slow Strain Rate Test in a Concentrated Solution of Ammonium Thiocyanate

The stress corrosion behavior of two prestressing steels of the cold drawn type (R sub m 1800 N/sq mm) has been determined in a slow strain rate test in a solution of 20% ammonium thiocyanate at room temperature. Both fractured brittle at a rate of 0.000001/s and at gauge lengths of 8 cm and longer.
