North America and Oceania's agricultural sectors are economically depressed. Farm incomes declined in 1982, and little improvement is expected in 1983. Agriculture in these regions is highly commercialized and depends on trade. Since general business conditions at home and abroad have been sluggish, commodity prices, especially for grains, have been weak. Also, large supplies of grains, oilseeds, and livestock products continue to overhang world markets.
