HVLV (High Velocity Low Volume) Control Technology for Welding Gun at Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation, Drainage Products Operations, Sacramento, California. Walk-Through Survey Report

A walk through survey was conducted at the Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation (SIC-3317) in Sacramento, California, on June 14, 1983. The survey was conducted as part of a pilot study to determine the state of the art of high velocity low volume (HVLV) technology for use in welding applications. Hazards were identified as zinc-oxide (1314132) fumes and fumes from lead (7439921), chromates, and cadmium (7440439). The author concludes that the facility was not observed in routine operation. It would be worthwhile to explore the potential of the system if a study of HVLV welding system controls was performed.
