Eye Care Visits and Use of Eyeglasses or Contact Lenses, United States, 1979 and 1980

Statistics are presented on the volume and frequency of visits for eye care, place of visit, and type of specialist seen, by age, sex, race, family income, education of head of family, place of residence, and geographic region. These estimates are based on data collected in interviews during 1979. In addition, statistics are presented on the proportion of persons with glasses or contact lenses during 1979 and 1980 by age, sex, race, Hispanic origin, geographic region, place of residence, education of the individual, occupation, and family income. Trends in the use of eyeglasses and contact lenses also are shown starting in fiscal year 1966.
