Riverton Rock Art Study, Fremont County, Wyoming

摘要

The study included general site recording, mapping, drawing and photographing the rock art, evaluating site condition and formulating National Register recommendations. Ten sites contained 22 separate panels and 97 identifiable figures, all petroglyphs. The majority of the figures are anthropomorphs or humanlike elements such as hands and feet. A smaller number are geometric designs such as wavy lines, dot series and spirals. The remaining few are quadrupeds and other zoomorphic forms. Most of the figures are pecked, with incising generally being limited to stylistic embellishment of pecked figures.
