Innovative Use of Information Technology in Facilitating Public Access to Agency Decisionmaking: An Assessment of the Experience in State and Local Governments

The use of information technology has been promoted as a means of facilitating public access to government agency decisionmaking since at least the sixties. As new technological advances have occurred, promoters and government reformers alike have sought to apply the technology in new and innovative ways. The report presents an assessment of information technology applied to public access to agency decisionmaking in state and local agencies, and comments on the applicability of these experiences to the federal government.
