Most people know little about the present distribution and trends of potato production in developing countries, and as a consequence they underestimate the potato's importance and potential as a food crop. The purpose of this compilation of statistical tables, figures, and maps is to provide policymakers and scientists with information they can use to better exploit the potato as a nutritious food crop in their countries. The edition of the Potato Atlas has been substantially redesigned and expanded. To facilitate its use by non-English speakers, the introduction, table of contents, explanatory notes, glossary, and list of countries appear in English, French, and Spanish.
