Role of the Gerontological/Geriatric Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Veterans Administration Medical Center

It is vital to determine the GNCS's role in the educational programs in the VAMC. Gerontological care of VA patients is of great importance and an ongoing monitoring is essential in order to promote cost effective quality care for the elderly veterans. The ten item questionnaire developed for this study focuses on the different aspects of GNCS's background, experiences, education, activities/functions, involvement and assignments. The study is organized into six chapters. The first presents the introduction, statement of the problem, and statement of the purpose. The second contains the literature review. The research methodology is contained in the third. The fourth presents the statistical analysis of data. The fifth contains discussion of the findings. Summary, implication and recommendations are contained in the sixth.
