The Third World Forum on Women, Law and Development is a culmination of a two-year effort to bring together scholars, academics and grassroot activists interested in making the Law 'real and relevant' in the lives of women in the third world. The second Women's Decade will be concerned with making law into an instrument capable of transforming the actual quality of life of women in third world societies. The Third World Forum on Women, Law and Development was a collective effort by women lawyers and activists from Asia, Africa, and Latin America to set a new agenda for the coming decade. The report outlines their discussions over a period of five days at the NGO Forum in Nairobi and sets out their conclusions and recommendations.
