摘要

A robust method of imaging fracture orientation based on measurement of transverse horizontal ground motion was developed. The method also gives some information about the inclination of the fracture. Computer software was developed to simulate the ground motion produced by a vibrating crack and the resulting geophone signals for a specified array. The programs were used to simulate the method of fracture mapping under various conditions, and subject to a range of noise and distortions. Vertical ground motion measurements do not appear to provide useful information about the dimensions or the bearing angle of the fracture.
