Retrospective Study of Hemoglobin Variants in Newborns

摘要

The purpose of the study was to examine a group of infants identified in the Newborn Screening Program with a variant type of hemoglobin. Through correlation of initial test results, repeat hemoglobin analysis, and medical histories of the first year of life, conclusions regarding the effect of these hemoglobin variants on the child's health could be made. Analysis of the data then would allow recommendations regarding appropriate follow-up procedures for these newborns.
