摘要

The report summarizes the gas supply outlook in the 1986 GRI Baseline Projection of U.S. energy supply and demand through 2010, which has been adopted for GRI's 1986-87 planning cycle. The projection shows U.S. gas consumption remaining near current levels of slightly less than 18 quads through the end of the 1980s. Gas availability at competitive prices may enable consumption of 19 quads or more in the 1990s primarily due to increased gas consumption in the commercial and electric utility sectors. A stable level of gas production of about 17 quads is expected through 2000 due to contributions of advanced technology to lower-48 production; after 2000, a decline is anticipated to 15.2 quads in 2010.
