摘要

In order to evaluate the threat from pure and crude trichothecenes as potential BW agents, toxicity studies in mice and rats and skin irritation tests with guinea pigs were conducted. At first, trichothecene production of several toxigenic Fusarium strains was studied. Trichothecenes were measured with a modified Brine Shrimp bioassay and the trichothecenes of a particular toxigenic strain viz. F.tricinctum NRRL 3299 were identified with GC-MS analysis. In acute toxicity tests various routes of administration of either pure T-2 toxin or crude toxin from cultures were compared with respect to lethality, histopathology and changes in the number of leucocytes. No gross changes were found between various routes of administration of T-2 toxin or crude toxins, neither was pulmonary dosing accompanied by increased toxicity.
